Teen admits bottle attack

A Macduff youth struck another person on the head with a bottle during trouble at Banff between two groups of young people.

Kyle Stewart used a wine bottle and the force caused it to break and left his victim with a cut to his head.

At Banff Sheriff Court yesterday, Stewart, 17, of 113 Duff Street, Macduff, admitted a charge of assault.

Fiscal depute John Richardson said the victim and some friends came to Banff on a bus from Portsoy to attend a funfair.

He said Stewart was not involved initially but had been watching [a “verbal altercation”].

He said: “When the verbal discussion got to matters physical, he was seen to step forward and strike the complainer on the back of the head with a bottle of Buckfast he had been holding in his left hand.”
