A TV and radio evangelical star in the United States is to visit his parents’ home town to preach this weekend.
Grantown couple George and Violet Smith will be welcoming their son, Colin, when he returns to his native Scotland and gives a sermon at the town’s Baptist Church.
Rev Smith, (53), who is now based in Chicago, is a frequently seen face on Christian TV and radio over there after writing a string of books initially under the title “Unlocking The Bible“.
Such is his popularity, that proud dad, George, said that the church he originally joined – Arlington Heights Free Evangelical Church – has grown dramatically.
The reverend now heads a satellite of off-shoot churches set up under the name of Orchard Church in the Chicago area and is assisted by seven pastors.
