The First Minister was under pressure yesterday to answer claims that he misled Parliament over funding for the Scottish Inter Faith Council.
At First Minister’s Questions last week, Mr Salmond said in reply to a question from Tavish Scott, the Lib Dem leader, that the government had agreed funding with the council.
But Mr Scott said that at the time he asked the question no letter had been received by the council and that the First Minister had misled MSPs. It has emerged that civil servants called Major Alan Dixon, the council’s convenor, after Mr Salmond’s answer.
