Politicians join to praise Perth & Kinross Street Pastors

Street Pastors logoPoliticians from across the political spectrum have lined up to praise the work of Perth and Kinross’ Street Pastors.

John Swinney MSP and Pete Wishart MP joined the team for a shift out on patrol in the Fair City on Friday last week.

The Street Pastors team have been operating locally since 2007 and include volunteers from a number of churches and denominations, offering services to those who might need it at traditionally busier times.

From offering a listening ear to more practical measures such as the provision of flip flops and blankets, the teams are in Perth every Thursday-Saturday from 10pm-3am.

Perthshire North SNP MSP Mr Swinney said: “I always enjoy my experience with the Street Pastors team and I am grateful that they, once again, allowed me to join them on what was another busy night in Perth.

“Seeing, first hand, the support they provide to people in need proves just what an invaluable service they offer week in, week out.”
