A sacked minister who took legal action to prove that he was unfairly dismissed has reached an out-of-court settlement with the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland.
The Rev Allan MacDonald’s case was dismissed by the Court of Session yesterday after the two parties reached an agreement.
The 50-year-old, who used to lead the Farr and Daviot congregation in Inverness-shire, was in the final stages of preparing for the case to go ahead to try to prove he was wrongly dismissed in April last year.
Mr MacDonald was removed from office after he criticised Church procedures in a book Veritatem Eme (Buy the Truth) four years ago.
He was suspended from his duties in March 2008 after the Church found him guilty of attacking another minister, Douglas Somerset, in writing and refusing to apologise.
