Manse set to be community centre

Work is under way on a £260,000 project to give the people of the Hilton housing estate in Inverness a new social club.

The minister’s manse adjacent to Hilton Church of Scotland in Tomatin Road is surplus to requirements with a new manse having been acquired.

The former manse is now being transformed into a community facility which will be open this autumn.

The Rev Duncan MacPherson, of Hilton Church, said: “This is a really exciting project to give the area a significant new social hub.

“It’s important to stress it certainly isn’t restricted to members of our church – it’s for anyone to come in for a cuppa or have a meal, or to take advantage of the other facilities.”
