Kirk is now under doctor’s orders

The 40th anniversary of female ministers in the Church of Scotland has seen a woman appointed to one of the top ministerial posts in Moray.

Rev Dr Kay Gauld was this week inducted as moderator of Moray Presbytery of the Church of Scotland.

She is only the second woman to be appointed moderator for Moray, following on from the former minister of Dyke, the Rev Ann McColl-Poole.

“It is a great honour to be asked to be moderator. I would like to see all the vacant churches in Moray filled and I hope to participate in many of the celebrations that are going on in church groups,” she said.

Mrs Gauld takes over the role from the Rev Graham Austin, minister of Findochty linked with Portknockie linked with Rathven.
