Host battered guest with garden spade

A party host battered one of his guests with a garden spade.

The brutal attack happened when Robert Boyd apparently took exception to David McCrorie having a domestic with his girlfriend at the party.

But Boyd’s lame excuse failed to cut any ice with Sheriff Carole Cunninghame who jailed the brute for 32 months.

Defence lawyer Peter Lockhart told Ayr Sheriff Court that McCrorie brought a “considerable carry out” to the party including cider, Buckfast, lager and cocaine.
