Profile of former international footballer and manager Brian Irvine as he begins a new job and a new direction as a youth worker in Inverness.
He’s employed at Youth Inclusive, is an initiative by Inverness Churches Together to offer young people, mainly in the Hilton area, positive alternatives to just hanging around on the street or succumbing to the temptations of alcohol, drugs or anti-social behaviour.
Although he admits he is hurt he is no longer involved in football, Brian believes he has much to be grateful for.
“Being a Christian, I’m a great believer that God is in control of my life,” he said. “The bigger picture for me is that it is not up to somebody in Caley Thistle or Ross County what happens in my life. I’ve always believed God guides you in your life. It’s just a question of whether you respect or reject him.”
