The number of ministers serving Paisley’s churches could be cut by as many as four under controversial new plans revealed yesterday.
Falling numbers of young men and women coming forward to the Kirk means there is a shortage of ministers compared to the number of churches across the country.
Now the central committee of the Church of Scotland have unveiled plans to shake up how they allocate ministers to each presbytery and Buddies may have to wave goodbye to as many as four preachers.
The ministers based at St. Ninian’s in Ferguslie, Wallneuk North church and St James’ church all now face the prospect of being moved on to different parts of Scotland to make up a shortfall there.
A meeting will be held tonight at St James’ Church at 7pm to discuss the Presbytery Plan.
