‘Cinderella’ priory gets upgrade

Work begins this month on a £500,000 upgrade of a 12th Century site dubbed the “Cinderella of the Border abbeys”.

Ruined sections of Coldingham Priory will be consolidated in order to stop any further deterioration of stonework.

The first stage of the project is a community garden growing fruit trees, vegetables and medicinal herbs as monks might have done hundreds of years ago.
