Church’s Bangladesh campaign success

A north-east congregation’s Christmas campaign has raised enough money to feed every pupil in a Bangladesh school for street children for a year.

Belhelvie Church’s Dreaming of a Right Christmas campaign aimed to raise £2,500 at the outset – enough to pay for milk and hot meals for the poorest children at the Gulshan Literacy Programme school in Dakha, which was started by ex-pats more than 20 years ago.

Minister Paul McKeown announced that they had more than trebled the target, raising around £8,000, enough to feed every pupil, many of whom are so poor they have to work before or after school.
