Church faces bad publicity as minister goes to court

A minister who was sacked by the Free Presbyterian Church is taking his case to the Court of Session after his appeal for reinstatement was rejected.

The Rev Allan Macdonald is taking action after the Church’s ruling synod refused to overturn its decision to dismiss him.

The 48-year-old, of the Farr and Daviot congregation in Inverness-shire, was given two separate indefinite suspension orders by the Church court in May after he was found guilty of attacking another minister in writing and refusing an order to apologise.

The case has also been referred to the Employment Tribunal Service and the Church has appointed a committee to represent it.
