Angelika trial delayed by illness

The Angelika Kluk murder trial has been stalled after the man accused of raping and killing her became unwell.

The trial of Peter Tobin, 60, had been due to resume at the High Court in Edinburgh at 1000 BST.

But when jurors finally took their seats two hours later, they were told by Judge Lord Menzies that the accused had taken ill.

Lord Menzies instructed the jury to return to court on Friday morning. Mr Tobin denies all charges against him.

Mr Tobin was transferred in an ambulance from the court building to the city’s Royal Infirmary.

The vehicle was accompanied by another in which a member of Mr Tobin’s legal team was a passenger.
