The church handyman accused of murdering Angelika Kluk vanished just an hour after helping police to hunt for her, a court heard yesterday.
Peter Tobin, 60, told officers about the last time he saw the 23-year-old Polish student – and gave a description of what she had been wearing.
It was claimed he even followed two officers around St Patrick’s in Anderston, Glasgow, and into the church grounds.
Tobin, who used the name Pat McLaughlin, told them he would be staying at the church hall all night.
But when Constable Barry Hendren returned just an hour later, Tobin had vanished.
