Historic tin church is back in service Comments Off
A historic church, one of Scotland’s oldest surviving tin tabernacles, has reopened after a two-year restoration.
Almost £160,000 was spent upgrading St Fillan’s Episcopal Church in the Killin conservation area of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
The corrugated iron church, which dates back to 1876, was in disrepair after years of rising damp.
The congregation completed the restoration as a result of a two-year programme of fundraising and building work.
The project received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Killin Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme, a joint initiative by the National Park Authority and Historic Scotland.
A 10-year maintenance plan is now in place to keep the church in good repair.
