A new book charts the history of Ballater’s Scottish Episcopalian church of St Kentigern’s which celebrated its centenary in 2007.

Founded as a mission church in 1897, the first church built on this site was a corrugated metal church and known fondly as the ‘Iron Church.’

Through the years it has seen many pass through its doors, including Florence Nightingale and members of the Royal Family, such as Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

Written by a member of the congregation, Robin Blyth, the book tells of the faithful who gathered inside the church’s doors to worship.
